Women's Center Education
Sanford Aberdeen offers several resources and classes free of charge to new or expectant families, including:
Are you ready for a baby? Thinking about ten little fingers and ten little toes? Late night feedings? Feeling a tiny kick inside as your belly grows? If you're thinking about a baby, we can help you prepare. Attend B4 Baby, a free, informal open house-style event for you and your partner to learn about the important physical, emotional, and practical considerations of becoming pregnant. You'll have an opportunity to meet our doctors and nurses, a dietician, pharmacist, financial counselor, and more to answer your questions. An optional tour of the birth suites will be offered.
Next B4 Baby event: Monday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. Call (605) 626-4550 to register, or register online.
After the birth of a baby, a new mom may be encouraged by the Women’s Center staff or a provider to schedule a Great Beginnings appointment. This appointment would occur before a regularly scheduled new born wellness check in the clinic setting.
The Great Beginnings appointment is scheduled with a maternal child nurse. There is no charge for this appointment, unless the baby requires a repeat hearing screen.
Great Beginnings features:
- Follow-up appointment after the delivery of baby
- One-on-one appointment with a maternal child nurse
- Physical assessments of both mother and baby
- Infant feeding assessment
- Information on newborn care and parenting
- Repeat hearing screens (if needed)
