ABERDEEN: SANFORD HOSPITAL PHASE STARTS

The first phase of the Sanford Regional Hospital Aberdeen construction project has begun, and an early spring groundbreaking will soon be announced, a Sanford official said Thursday. Sanford Health Network President Ed Weiland said although the exact schedule is unknown, depending on how long the first phase of bids takes, construction workers could be on-site as early as the end of April or early May. Weiland said Sanford and project developer LADCO Development sent out the first phase of bid packages this week. This starts the actual construction process, asking contractors to begin submitting bids for site work, dirt work and excavation, he said. The project's overall construction manager is Ball Construction Services of Des Moines, Iowa, said Jim Striepe, executive vice president for Sanford health network.
